Even the most jaded travellers will find something to spice up their trip in Korea, the land of soju and kimchi. In summer, the annual Boryeong Mud Festival at Daecheon Beach is your perfect excuse to wallow with wild abandon… in mud. Then, for a bit of cultural immersion, many UNESCO World Sites, including the Bulguksa Temple, remain timeless national treasures. But if all you want is to give your wallet a vigorous workout, shopping in Seoul will make you wish you’d brought that spare luggage. Check out what our featured Korean destinations have to offer and book your trip today. And oh, be prepared to join the Koreans in eating that piquant pickled cabbage every day!
SEOUL - Delve beneath the modern city of Seoul and unearth its rich history and treasure trove of ancient palaces, traditional buildings, temples and prehistoric artefacts from bygone eras. The Gyeongbok Palace for example, is just one of the imperial palaces dating back to the late 14th century. Close by is Bukchon Hanok Village where royal families and high-ranking officers used to live. For a glimpse into Korea’s prehistoric past, head over to Amsa-dong Prehistoric Settlement Site, where Bronze Age relics were excavated and now on display. Antique-hunters will find the Insa-dong a real gem. Tucked away in its alleyways are antique shops, art galleries, traditional restaurants and tea houses as well as hand craft stores.

BUSAN - What are you in the mood for? Korea’s second largest city, Busan (Pusan) seems to have it all. The connected markets of Gukje, Gwangbok-dong, and Nampo-dong are a shopper’s dream, while you’ll want to head to Seomyeon for Korean barbecue, soju bars and karaoke rooms. If nature is more what you had in mind, head to the popular Haeundae Beach for a splash in the waves, or eschew the cable car and climb Geumjeong Mountain on your own steam, after which you’ll feel like a soak in the hot springs at Hushimchung Spa. Whether you come for the Pusan International Film Festival in October, or for the traditional temples and markets, Busan has something to please everyone.

JEJU - Jeju may be South Korea’s most popular honeymoon destination but the Hallyu (Korean wave) has not spared the picturesque island from gaining an almost cult following for its famous filming sites. Recreate your own memories on the cliffs of Seobjikoji, where the hit miniseries All In was filmed. The Jeongbang Waterfall cascading right into the ocean and the magnificent crater of Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak) will take your breath away. When in season, blooming tangerine trees make a fruitilicious picture all around Jeju. With so many mesmerising sights, it is easy to see how the country’s southernmost island earned its romantic status.
